Abstract
Quality management is essential for organizational success, focusing on customer expectations, operational efficiency and competitiveness. Prioritizing the customer, business decisions seek to exceed their expectations to guarantee satisfaction. Quality tools play a central role, offering structured approaches to identify, analyze and resolve problems, aligning with customer needs. Accurately identifying application locations and methods, based on practical examples, is crucial to understanding how these tools can be effectively used in the real world. In this context, the general objective of the research was to identify and analyze scientific articles on the applications of quality tools. Therefore, the present study had as its guiding question “How and where are quality tools being applied? To answer this question, bibliographical research was carried out in the electronic databases of Periódicos Capes and Scielo, using the keywords: “application(s) of quality tools OR quality management tools”. The research was limited to scientific articles in Portuguese published between 2019 and 2023, thus establishing a temporal basis for the selection. 385 peer-reviewed scientific articles were identified, of which 22 were selected for analysis due to their application of quality tools. An evaluation was conducted to examine the practical implementation of these tools in the chosen scientific articles. The most frequently used tools were the Ishikawa Diagram, used in 40.48% of cases, followed by the Pareto Diagram, present in 21.43% of analyses, the Flowchart or Process Diagram, with 19.05%, the Histogram , with 7.14%, and the Verification Sheet, with 9.52%. Furthermore, the only quality instrument not used in the reviewed articles was the Scatter Diagram. Although addressing different sectors and challenges, the application of these tools had a common objective: to identify the root causes of problems and establish actions to eliminate them or minimize their impacts
