Abstract
This study underscores the significance of flanged connections in the industry, emphasizing the need for careful gasket selection to prevent leaks that impact costs and safety in the oil and gas sector. The case study addresses the replacement of double-jacket gaskets with camprofile in heat exchangers, aiming to eliminate recurring leaks caused by shear stresses during differential flange expansion. Tests confirm the superior performance of the camprofile gasket, resulting in six years of operation without leaks. In this regard, the study contributes to refining sealing practices in the oil and gas industry, emphasizing the necessity to consider all variables from design to assembly, while also highlighting the importance of individually analyzing each case and recognizing double-jacket gaskets as a valid option in certain contexts.
