Didática e relações interpessoais: o diálogo por uma comunicação não violenta entre professor e aluno no âmbito da EPT

Abstract

The teacher-student relationship is fundamental in the teaching-learning process, serving as a central pillar for educational development. In this context, the importance of dialogue and respectful, noise-free communication stands out as essential elements for achieving a truly transformative education. This study explores the teacher-student relationship through the lens of two complementary concepts: dialogue, as conceived by Paulo Freire, and Nonviolent Communication (NVC), proposed by Marshall B. Rosenberg. The objective of this research is to investigate which aspects of the teacher-student relationship, from the students' perspective, are impacted by communication barriers, and how these elements interfere with interaction and, consequently, learning. The study was conducted at a campus of the Federal Institute of Minas Gerais (IFMG), involving students from the third year of the Integrated High School program, all over 18 years old, focusing on their perceptions of communication and interpersonal relationships with their teachers. The results reflect the complexity of interpersonal relationships in the school environment, suggesting that communication barriers affect mutual understanding between teachers and students, including verbal violence, prejudice, unmet needs, silencing, perceived indifference from teachers, emotional interference in relationships, and negative impacts on learning. The contribution of this study includes two Educational Products aimed at facilitating behavioral change among the surveyed group and, consequently, improving the educational environment. The first is the self-assessment tool "What Did I Say? And How Was It?", which helps teachers reflect on their communication patterns. The second is the "Escutatória" (a combination of listening and speaking), a tool designed to identify and address cases of bullying and violence, providing a safe space for students to express themselves and be heard.
