Abstract
This research has analyzed the importance about the railway memory that is presented in the count from Ouro Preto-MG (Brazil) of which name is Rodrigo Silva. The social and economic development of this region occurred from local railway. There were the worries of population in order to rescue this memory that was gotten through FAOP and Major House of the city. It is evidenced the current use of the railway station to cultural events and like head office to Sociedade Musical Santa Cecília, more than a century old and which origin was the railway. The main goal of this study was the analyse of this patrimony like promoter of belonging feeling and of appropriation of the railway memory. The hypothesis was validated, namely, the railway patrimony which exists in that county has represented the identity and the reference from the population which becomes owner from their Spaces and which fights by its maintance if it is necessary. Methodologically, the analyse of bibliographical and documental material and field research had been used as well as the interviews with residents who are responsible by the Musical Institution.
