Abstract
The implementation of Line 2 of the Belo Horizonte metro requires technical measures to ensure compatibility between rolling stock and track infrastructure. In this context, the railway clearance gauge plays a crucial role, as it allows the anticipation of potential interferences between trains, platforms, tunnels, bridges, and other structures along the route. This study analyzes the CNR CKD8 locomotive and the parameters of the permanent way, such as curve radius, stations, and planned civil works, demonstrating the practical application of clearance gauges in the implementation process. The methodology involved the application of the ABNT technical standard NBR 12915:2020 and the development of geometric models using NX 12 software. Calculations of the lateral displacement of the platform in relation to the bogies were performed, taking into account the effects of sway on curves. The final stage of the study consisted of the practical validation of the clearance gauge through simulations and field tests, highlighting the importance of anticipating structural interferences before the start of operation. The results demonstrate that, even with detailed planning and calculations, field testing remains essential for adjustments and validations. The study emphasizes the relevance of engineering applied to urban mobility, offering a direct contribution to the safety, efficiency, and longevity of the metro system in the capital of Minas Gerais.
