Abstract
This study conducts a critical analysis of the effectiveness of the heritage listing of the Dom Bosco Bridge as a preservation strategy. Located near the Cumbé road, in Cachoeira do Campo, the bridge is part of the architectural ensemble of the Dom Bosco School and was built to span the Maracujá River. Despite its historical value, the structure is in an advanced state of deterioration, a consequence of lack of maintenance and prolonged neglect. Although it was listed by the Institute of Historical and Artistic Heritage of Minas Gerais (IEPHA-MG) in 2014, its condition continues to worsen, raising doubts about the effectiveness of the preservation policies implemented. The study is based on a bibliographic review and field observations to assess the severity of the damage and the effectiveness of the protective measures adopted. The research aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of the current condition of the bridge and the heritage conservation policies.
