Abstract
This work aimed to analyze the influence of irrigation management of carrots (Dau-cus carota L). Carrots are the fifth most cultivated vegetable in Brazil and are a source of in-come for producers, expands job offers in the field, and favors the country's economy. Water is one of the most important factors for crop production. In addition to its participation in the cellular constitution and the various physiological processes in the plant, it is directly related to nutrient absorption and cooling of the plant surface. The increasing demand for water for mul-tiple purposes has made water management a complex problem worldwide. Irrigation is essen-tial for carrot production. It is what favors the increase of productivity and improvement of product quality. In Brazil, especially in regions where this vegetable is cultivated in Minas Ge-rais, studies on the production of irrigated carrots are still scarce, especially regarding proper irrigation management, that is, the opportune time to irrigate and the amount of water to be applied. The more studies on the adequacy of irrigation management, the closer we are to en-suring agricultural production with safer practices. Irrigation management with constant appli-cations helps to maintain high soil moisture, benefiting crop development and productivity by supplying the carrot crop with the right amount of water at the right time. Irrigation must con-sider soil conditions, water, climate, and culture, which varies depending on location, as well as greater efficiency in soil fertilizing, safety during droughts, and product quality.
