Abstract
The city of Piumhi-MG, located in the central-western region of Minas Gerais, is characterized by having an economy that is dependent on the agricultural sector and by having a specific slope due to the presence of mountains in the region. The municipality is undergoing a process of urban growth, evidenced by the increasing number of buildings in the city, causing the urban perimeter to increase. Due to geological and geotechnical factors and combined with a possible lack of adequate planning, the municipality may become susceptible to mass movements. Therefore, a risk analysis shows benefits to minimize damage to the population and economic losses in possible natural disasters. This study examined the risk of mass movements in lands around the IFMG – Piumhi Campus in the municipality of Piumhi-MG, with a total of 5 points analyzed in the study. For this analysis, an inspection form was used, adapted from the Ministério das Cidades (2007), Pereira (2017) and Campos (2011), with the geological and geotechnical factors relevant to the occurrence of this type of natural disaster. Based on the results of the evaluation, the risk level of the site will be stipulated based on the classification proposed by Campos (2011). Of the 5 points analyzed in the work using the form, 3 have high risk, 1 has medium risk and 1 has low risk.
