Abstract
Accessibility is a legal factor guaranteed by the 1988 Federal Constitution, which provides equal guarantees, without restrictions, to people with disabilities and reduced mobility – whether physical, intellectual or psychological. Thus, regulations aimed at the execution of civil construction projects were created to establish minimum requirements associated with the adequacy of architecture to promote accessible environments. In this context, the objective of the work involves the evaluation of public squares already built in the municipality of Aguanil, Minas Gerais, in order to compare the architectural project executed with parameters established by standard NBR 9050:2020 and outline a profile of compliance with the accessibility criteria determined by law. It is known that these squares were built in years prior to the standard used (2020), however it is important that the old environments be updated to guarantee accessibility for people with reduced mobility. As a result, it was possible to notice that most of the requirements established by standard were not met; in this sense, there is a need to reform and adapt the squares. Therefore, it is of fundamental importance that there be greater rigidity in the approval and execution processes for new civil constructions, in addition to the adaptation of older spaces, in order to provide access and leisure to all members of the population.
