Abstract
Since the beginning of industrial processes, maintenance has been the main tool for ensuring the operation of machinery and equipment in production processes. Therefore, current production systems have invested heavily in improving management and maintenance techniques to ensure greater results in relation to their performance indicators and cost optimization in order to obtain greater results and consequently greater profits. Therefore, reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) is a methodology that uses some techniques to design the equipment maintenance strategy and help these corporations to develop a lean and systematic maintenance program, achieving the objectives regarding performance and costs effectively. Therefore, this paper focuses on describing the process of implementing RCM in a box palletizing machine, whose implementation resulted in an improvement in equipment performance, thus ensuring greater reliability and productivity throughout the production process. In addition, show how it was obtained the evolution in the maintenance indicators in which it was possible to obtain a failure rate of 2.55%, reduction of the unavailability of the machine from 6.09% to 2.47%, parallel to this, na increase of 17 hours with respect to the average time between failures and reduction of 12 minutes with respect to the average time of repair of the failures.
