Abstract

Digital teaching tools are ever more present in the school environment, being extremely important that students and teachers get used to new methodologies based on the use of technologies for the teaching of geography, in the aim of making the teaching-learning process more efficient and significant, mainly when it is possible to make it emphasize the reality experienced by the students. Among these new tools used in geography classes, it is possible to verify the importance of Google Earth as a teaching device. This is an accessible, free resource, with functions that raise curiosity and interest on the student. This is an inductive qualitative research, which used the content analysis method by Bardin, divided into three stages: pre-analysis, coding and categorization of published papers. Data were gathered from scientific papers on the use of Google Earth for geography teaching, published on the Google Scholar platform between 2002 and 2022, in the aim of understanding and analyzing the contributions of Google Earth as a tool in geography teaching. In the end, we verified that there has been an increase in the use of Google Earth as a resource in geography teaching and the papers analyzed highlight that the aforementioned resource contributes to more practical and dynamic classes, stimulating students’ participation, inclusion of digital resources and favoring the learning of important geographic concepts for a whole and quality education.
