Abstract
The present work describes the management and execution process of a public restoration project for a listed building. It aims to demonstrate the challenges faced by the team during this initiative. The supervised project was the restoration of Hotel Glória, a building over a century old, recognised by the city of Ponte Nova (MG) as part of its cultural heritage with extreme importance to the city’s history. Based on the monthly measurements and documentation provided by the contractor responsible for executing the project, and as a member of the supervision team, it was possible to survey and identify the main difficulties. Following this survey, it was possible to verify the impact of these obstacles on the management of this type of project. It is evident that planning and hiring an appropriate management team are crucial before the execution of any kind of project, particularly the ones with special characteristics, to minimize adversities and achieve the expected results.
