Abstract

Asset management in public administration involves several procedures that are essential to maintain the preservation and control of this asset. Therefore, taking into account the actions related to the disposal process is important for the institution's asset records. From this perspective, the research proposed in this dissertation aimed to understand how the process of disposal of movable and electronic assets of IFMG occurs, particularly on the Conselheiro Lafaiete campus, the locus of this study. After a detailed theoretical review on the subject, an empirical study was carried out, which included research with a qualitative, descriptive, documentary and bibliographic approach and a case study. The research instruments used were structured interviews, conducted electronically, with employees who work in the institution's Asset sectors and on-site observation. The analysis of the data and the discussion of the results indicated that the management of public assets requires a standardized flow for the disposal of assets, considering the relevance of this process for the institution. The opinions of the interviewees also guided the construction and evaluation of the Educational Product developed from this study. The result was an educational video with a step-by-step process, entitled ‘Disposal of Public Movable and Electronic Assets’, in which the stages of the disposal process were described. To this end, it was necessary to map the administrative procedures carried out in the institution’s Asset sectors, based on all legislation related to the research topic. The data obtained in the research carried out for this dissertation corroborate the research assumptions presented at the beginning of this work, and demonstrated the need for a clear standardization that is accessible to all employees. It is believed that this study will contribute to the efficiency of asset management, serving as a subsidy for the practice of workers who work in the area. Through the control and conservation of these assets, the academic community will be able to have adequate objective conditions for the development of the comprehensive education of students, effectively contributing to the improvement of the quality of teaching in Federal Institutes.
