Abstract
The current educational context has been the subject of discussions among Education researchers, especially with regard to content fragmentation and problems related to teacher training, with emphasis on Natural Sciences (Physics, Biology and Chemistry) and Mathematics. In this scenario, interdisciplinarity is essential to mitigate school fragmentation and reestablish links between the contents of different disciplines, contextualizing them. It is especially important in light of the rapid changes and demands of contemporary society. Interdisciplinarity is defended by several authors and supported by official Education documents, such as the National Curricular Guidelines (DCN) and the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC). Biophysics, as an interdisciplinary science that applies theories and methods of Physics to solve questions in Biology, allows working on contents present in both disciplines, such as the Cardiovascular System. However, its exploration is limited, and physical and biological concepts are often approached in isolation in the classroom and at different times in high school. In this context, this research sought to verify the perception of students of the Degree in Physics at the Federal Institute of Minas Gerais - Campus Ouro Preto about the importance of interdisciplinarity in Natural Sciences, more specifically between the disciplines of Physics and Biology, for teacher training. For this, a didactic sequence on Biophysics of the Cardiovascular System was created and applied to students of the Degree in Physics, followed by the application of a questionnaire to assess the impact of the intervention. The Pedagogical Project of the Course (PPC) of the Degree in Physics at the IFMG-OP was also analyzed, seeking to identify whether interdisciplinarity is associated with a teacher training skill of the Degree in Physics. It was observed that interdisciplinary training is a constant premise in the PPC. Regarding the importance of interdisciplinarity, all participants in this research agree, partially or totally, that interdisciplinarity is important for their training as teachers. Consequently, these future teachers will, very possibly, have a teaching practice that includes interdisciplinary teaching.
