A balaustrada de Viçosa e suas utilizações

The theme “The Balustrade of Viçosa and its uses” was chosen for the making of this article because it is a monument that goes far beyond a guardrail used to separate two lanes and offer safety to pedestrians. Located on Avenida Bueno Brandão, built at the time of the development of the central region of the city with the arrival of the railway line and the ESAV (Escola Superior de Agricultura e Veterinária), it is part of the affective memory of several people and has great historical and cultural importance for the municipality, however, due to the increasingly accelerated verticalization process, resulting from real estate speculation, the region has become very valued, putting the Balustrada and its surroundings in danger because they are not receiving the attention and due care of the bodies that should take care of its preservation.
