Abstract
The consolidation of the technical-scientific-informational environment in the 21st century has brought a new reality to basic education: the coexistence with technology. However, these resources should not be seen as either saviors or harmful to the teaching-learning process, but as tools that provide new approaches and adaptations to educational systems in the face of the new societal context. It is necessary for there to be a healthy and constant dialogue between the school and technology, recognizing the possibilities and limits that each offers to the other, always keeping in mind the benefits provided to students, teachers, the content being studied, as well as all other agents involved in the educational process. Especially for School Geography, technology offers new and important opportunities for making teaching methods more interactive, investigative, and focused, with local approaches and encouragement of spatial and scientific reasoning, which will result in geographic literacy and numeracy. Aiming to contribute to the integration of geotechnologies in basic education, this work presents a manual for using the main features of the Fields Area Measure app, which are useful for Geography classes, especially at the high school level. Although this tool was not specifically developed for didactic use, it has a simple and reliable interface and features that can significantly enrich the construction of knowledge by students.
