Abstract
Asphalt pavements are subject to various pathologies over time, mpacting their durability and safety. Pavement behavior depends on factors such as traffic, weather conditions, and characteristics of the supporting soil. Given the importance of road maintenance and rehabilitation, this work aims to conduct a case study of the pathologies present in the pavement of the LMG - 801 highway, a road of economic and religious importance in the Central-West region of Minas Gerais. For this purpose, a detailed visual inspection was carried out, identifying and classifying the main types of damage according to the DNIT guidelines. In addition, possible causes of the pathologies were analyzed and repair and maintenance solutions were suggested to increase the pavement's useful life. The results showed the predominance of cracks and patches, often related to drainage failures and heavy vehicle traffic. It was concluded that the adoption of ppropriate preventive and corrective maintenance strategies can minimize the impacts of pathologies and ensure better long-term service life.
