Abstract
This study presents the process of designing and implementing an on-grid, groundmounted photovoltaic system aimed at reducing energy costs in coffee production on a rural property. Each stage is detailed, from the in-depth analysis of energy consumption to the final installation of the power plant, covering aspects such as module positioning, equipment selection (panels and inverters), grounding, and electrical protection. The project was planned considering potential seasonal variations in solar irradiation, future expansion needs, and strategies to minimize generation losses. The plant, approved by the local utility, operates under a net metering scheme, which made the project economically viable and sustainable. After the first full year of operation, total generation reached 67.88 MWh, close to the original estimate of 5760 kWh per month, despite minor performance impacts due to dust accumulation and less frequent cleaning routines. These results confirm the technical and economic feasibility of photovoltaic projects in the agricultural sector, enhancing both operational efficiency and environmental sustainability.
