Abstract
The new conception of Professional and Technological Education (EPT) and Physical Education after the promulgation of the 1996 LDB broke with old paradigms of instrumentalized and unilateral professional education. Today, EPT aims at the integral human formation of education and its main focus is to prepare students for the world of work and life in society, adding theoretical and practical knowledge to science, technology and culture. Physical education no longer focuses solely on the area of health sciences, integrating other contents from the human and social sciences into its area of knowledge. These changes inevitably led to the need for teaching qualifications. Thus, in this research, we address the central problem of training Physical Education teachers to work in Technological Professional Education (EPT), seeking to understand how the basic assumptions of this modality were present during teacher training and how teachers appropriate them in teaching practice. . This is an exploratory research with a qualitative approach whose method was a case study applied at the Federal Institute of Minas Gerais (IFMG). The sample was made up of 5 Physical Education teachers from five IFMG campuses. The data collection instrument was the interview and the Content Analysis methodology of Bardin (2011) was applied to analyze the data. The research results revealed some gaps in the initial and continuing academic training of teachers that necessarily need to be filled to meet the specific objectives of EPT. An educational product was developed to contribute to the understanding of the fundamental goals that support EFA.
