Abstract
This study aims to outline the festivities, habits and traditions of popular culture in the context of the stone pot festival in the district of Cachoeira do Brumado, Mariana MG. Such a tradition is the art of the principle that every space or place has a meaning of existence that makes it unique, defining an identity that comes to constitute belonging through the practices carried out in the daily life of the community in order to consolidate a reference for the place or region. Cuisine is a cultural manifestation of a group of people, and considering this, then, typical local dishes should be considered the legacy of the region, their way of preparation promotes understanding of the conditions present at the time in which they were created. Thus, when we mention the Festa da Panel de Pedra, a cultural festival in the district, peculiar knowledge emerges that permeates the existence of communities in their practices symbolized in food, handicrafts, celebrations and other cultural manifestations. Gastronomy is an attraction of a certain location and very important from a tourist point of view. It preserves the memory of what we were and are, it expresses and reveals our identity and the environment that surrounds us. By preserving the history of food in the stone pot, one can have proportions of the cultural legacy and preservation of this intangible heritage.
