Abstract
A building structure is composed by superstructure, substructure and foundation soil; however, it is commonly analyzed separately when they are modelled. Once buildings are constructed above soil, the soil has a considerable influence on the structure, so it is important to take into consideration all the possible effects created by that interaction in structural projects. Therefore, this study aimed to compare and analyze numerically the reinforced concrete structure switching the bonds between foundation and soil: rigid and elastic. For the first one the soil was not considered on structure’s design. The structure was analyzed considering the reaction coefficients to build flexible supports, thereby verifying the soil-structure interaction influence. The structure and foundation, of reinforced concrete, from a multi-floor residential building were designed and processed on the software Eberick 2019 demonstrative version, from AltoQI company, which allows the soil displacement application on modelling. The structure stability parameters, e.g. horizontal displacement, and some structural elements were compared to understand the designing and efforts variation. It was concluded that there were considerable variations between the models, including reduction of differential settlement when the soil-structure interaction was considered, this may prevent damage on the building during its life cycle.
