Abstract
Infestation by Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus remains a major health challenge in cattle production, especially in the context of increasing resistance to conventional acaricides. This study aimed to critically review the available evidence on the use of homeopathic formulations for the control of cattle ticks. A narrative literature review was conducted using national and international databases, including studies published between 2008 and 2025. The findings indicate consistent reductions in tick infestation, ranging from 54% to 80%, depending on the formulation used, the homeopathic potency, and the duration of treatment. A progressive therapeutic response was observed, with more pronounced effects between the fourth and eighth weeks of continuous administration. Although the results are promising, methodological heterogeneity and the limited number of controlled studies restrict the generalizability of the findings. It is concluded that homeopathy shows potential as a complementary tool in the management of R. microplus, but further standardized and rigorously designed studies are required to confirm its effectiveness.
