Abstract
This research proposes a comparison between the polymers Polypropylene (PP) and Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS), with a specific focus on their mechanical properties, in order to understand the relevance of the application of these materials in the modern automotive industry. The appropriate selection of polymeric materials is essential to meet the mechanical performance requirements of this sector. Through a literature review and analysis of technical-scientific data, this work highlights the main differences in the mechanical behavior between the two polymers, seeking to understand how these characteristics influence their use in automotive components. The results of the comparison demonstrate that, although both materials are widely used in the automotive industry, their mechanical properties make them more suitable for different structural and functional roles in vehicle manufacturing. Thus, this research aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of the mechanical performance of materials in contexts of specific demands, supporting more accurate choices in the field of engineering aimed at the automotive sector.
