Abstract
The entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana is widely studied and used in agriculture for pest control. Thus, the objective of this study was 1) to evaluate the sporulation of the fungus Beauveria bassiana in different types of substrates and 2) to price the different types of substrates used for the reproductive growth of the fungus Beauveria bassiana. The present study evaluated the multiplication of fungal spores in rice (control) and in six different substrates added to rice, with 10 replicates for each one. The substrates tested were: beetle flour, peanut flour, golden flaxseed, sesame, cashew nut flour and wheat flour, all added in plastic bags containing rice. To quantify the spore production, the Neubauer chamber was used, for later counting under a microscope. The highest concentrations of spores of the fungus Beauveria bassiana were found in Treatment 1 (Rice - Control), Treatment 6 (Rice + Cashew flour) and Treatment 7 (Rice + Wheat flour). In addition, a survey of the costs of the raw materials used was conducted, in which, even in the treatments that presented positive results, the use of the control sample proved to be more viable, due to the more affordable price.
