Abstract
This study covers the impacts caused by seismicity on metallic structures. With this, the objective was to study earthquake-resistant metallic structures and analyze the structural impacts caused by earthquakes on them. The thematic selection was justified by the need to obtain an understanding of the impact of the forces generated by earthquakes, demonstrating the importance of this approach for the development of the structural analysis of the equipment that will be installed in these locations. Methodologically, a documentary and exploratory bibliographic review was incorporated in harmony with qualitative and observational research. In this way, it was found that although the frequency of large magnitude earthquakes is lower in Brazil compared to highly seismic regions, the possibility of seismic events cannot be underestimated, making it essential that designers and engineers incorporate seismicity as an element central when developing metallic structures. Furthermore, it was noted that buildings designed with high ductility exhibit a greater capacity for controlled deformation, thus resulting in the minimization of damage in earthquake situations and, crucially, improving the safety of the people who occupy them.
