Abstract
This study aimed to implement a vegetative barrier at the Student Housing facility of IFMG – Bambuí Campus, using the species Podocarpus macrophyllus, with the aim of promoting greater privacy and thermal comfort for residents in the future, especially in rooms facing the Equotherapy sector. The species was chosen based on its ornamental characteristics, resilience, and upright growth. The study was structured as a technical report, using an applied, descriptive, and qualitative methodology. Seedling production was carried out at the campus’s Nursery and Silviculture Sector through the technique of stem cuttings, without the use of rooting hormones. A rooting rate of 56.25% was achieved, which is considered satisfactory. The seedlings were transplanted to the final site, with a spacing of 50 cm between plants and regular silvicultural practices, including fertilization, irrigation, ant control, replanting, and staking. Root nodulation was also observed in several specimens. Although the seedlings have not yet reached sufficient height to form the intended vegetative barrier, the adopted procedures ensured good initial establishment in the field. The results indicate that the proposal is viable and that, with the continued development of the plants, the goals regarding environmental comfort and privacy may be fully achieved in the future.
