Abstract
The production of quality seedlings is a determining factor in the success of the coffee plantation. The standard substrate used for seedlings produced in polyethylene bags has tanned and sieved barnyard manure in its composition, which is largely responsible for the nutritional supply, especially nitrogen, in addition to adding physical and biological benefits to the substrate. However, the ideal time for seedling production is preceded by the rainy season, causing difficulty in collecting manure with the desired characteristics in large volumes, having as a possible solution the early collection of manure in previous years, followed by its storage. In this sense, the present work aimed to evaluate the influence of the use of barnyard manure stored in previous years on the quality of coffee seedlings. To this end, an experiment was carried out at Fazenda João Arcanjo, in the municipality of Candeias-MG, in which a randomized block design was adopted consisting of four treatments, with manure collected in the year 2019, 2020 and 2021 collected in the region of Bambuí. -MG, in addition to a plot collected in 2021 in the region of Candeias-MG, with five replications, totaling twenty experimental plots, consisting of 24 plants per plot. The data of the variables evaluated were submitted to analysis of variance (ANOVA) using the F test at a 5% probability level and the means were compared using the Scott-Knott test. A significant difference was observed for all variables evaluated as a function of manure storage time, with a decrease in seedling quality as a function of the increase in manure storage time.
