Abstract
This assignment presents the application of the Problem Analysis and Solving Method (MASP), based on the PDCA cycle, to reduce waste in the packaging line of the “Buhler Longa” machine, in a pasta manufacturing food industry located in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The study is a qualitative case study and employed quality tools such as Brainstorming, Ishikawa Diagram, Pareto Chart, and 5W2H. After identifying the main causes of the problem, technically feasible and low-cost solutions were proposed and implemented. As a result, waste generation was reduced from 0.52% to 0.45%, representing a projected increase of R$72.641,06 per year in revenue. Beyond tangible gains, the project also led to improvements in workplace organization, team engagement, ergonomics, and standardization of processes, with some actions being replicated in another production line. This study highlights the effectiveness of structured quality tools in optimizing manufacturing processes.
