Abstract
This study examined the implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices as sustainability instruments within Quartzo Mineração. The research, qualitative and descriptive in nature, was conducted through documentary analysis of institutional reports published between 2023 and 2024, aligned with international reporting guidelines and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The findings revealed significant progress in the environmental pillar, including reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, reforestation projects, and efficient water management. In the social dimension, initiatives focused on health, education, diversity, and inclusion stood out, along with the strengthening of the Social License to Operate through engagement with local, traditional, and Indigenous communities. Regarding governance, the company implemented compliance structures, auditing processes, and independent boards, reinforcing transparency and institutional credibility. Despite these advances, challenges remain in expanding social trust, enhancing the effectiveness of governance mechanisms, and improving the transparency of indicators. This study contributes to the understanding of ESG practices in the mining sector, offering theoretical and practical insights for advancing corporate sustainability and consolidating the social role of companies.
