Abstract
The present work is a study about the current state of conservation of the bandstand at Praça da Liberdade (Liberty Square), in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. Localized in an architectural complex and landscaping listed in 1977 by IEPHA/MG (State Institute of Historical and Artistic Heritage), it concentrates an important cultural circuit around itself. The study’s objective is to analyze the bandstand's conservation state, identify the degrading agents that act on the wear of the edification, and establish a conservation plan through damage identification. Data on the historical characteristics of the bandstand and documental works of interventions were collected, as a means to compare the last process of restoration to its current state. The methodological process also involved mapping the bandstand’s users, the physical and ambiental aspects, and the evaluation of damages. From the collected and registered information on the diagnostic sheets about its current state of conservation, are indicated strategies and procedures to be adopted for its preservation and consequently its effective conservation.
