Abstract
Social habitation has the purpose of promoting home for the low-income population with the intention of improving the well-being of these families, although it is not enough to solve the housing deficit, it is essential that the buildings has the minimum performance and quality requirements, within cost and time constraints. Within this perspective, the research project proposes a comparative analysis of Housing Projects of Social Interest (EHIS) in Portugal and Brazil. This proposal also aims to identify best practices in the development and management of EHIS, associated with Construction Information Modeling (BIM). The case study method was used, through bibliographic review, studies of BIM concepts and data collection through interviews. It was concluded that Portugal, which has already achieved a satisfactory reduction in the housing deficit, therefore the current emphasis is on the rehabilitation of existing EHIS, with a focus on comfort and energy efficiency, as well as the implementation of social inclusion measures for users. In Brazil, the housing deficit is still large, therefore the promotion of social housing must be focused on the quantitative aspect, but with an increase in quality, given the degree of deterioration of the existing buildings. Despite little use in Portugal, the application of BIM concepts demonstrates positively achieving the specificities of EHIS in order to promote greater productivity, increase quality, reduce costs and eliminate flaws in buildings resulting in improved quality of life and an economic gain for low-income population using social housing.
