Abstract
This study conducted a detailed analysis of the financial impacts caused by critical events, specifically the dam failure in Brumadinho, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the intense rains in January 2022, on a hospitality enterprise located in the historic city of Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais. Using financial and operational data from the analyzed company, the study assessed reservation patterns, revenues, occupancy rates, and average tariffs before, during, and after these critical events. Results highlighted variations in magnitude and economic recovery speeds for each crisis type, emphasizing the importance of financial resilience and adaptive strategies for hospitality businesses to manage catastrophic events. It concludes that preventive strategies and flexible financial planning are crucial for ensuring sustainability and economic recovery within the tourism sector, particularly in areas susceptible to adverse events.
