Abstract
Solid waste has been the subject of discussion due to its negative impact on the environment and public health. The problem of RSU is still a reality in many Brazilian counties, but it has been gradually modified based on the guidelines imposed by the National Policy on Solid Waste. In this context, this work aims to present quantitative and qualitative data of the waste generated in the city of Doresópolis-MG, in order to contribute to the taking of actions to improve the management and management of waste and to be increasingly liquid with the PNRS. The characterization of the waste was carried out through the gravimetric study, which allows knowing the type of waste generated, the per capita generation and the specific weight. The study planning was based on the characterization methodology of solid urban waste developed by FEAM for the counties of Minas Gerais. The results obtained show that, in 2021, the per capita generation in the counties of Doresópolis was 0.681 kg/habitant/day, which reflected a generation equivalent to that expected in Minas Gerais. In the weekly sampling, it was possible to identify that the municipality generates, in greater proportions, waste that can be composted and recycled. Based on the analysis and results, actions are proposed in order to improve solid waste management in the counties.
