Abstract
The present work proposes a solution to reduce water losses in the supply system of a micro-region of Belo Horizonte, located in Bairro Vila Esperanca, regional Barreiro. Based on a bibliographical review of the methods and techniques used to combat water loss, this study aims to identify effective actions in other countries, as well as in Brazil, and to elaborate a water balance to compose the losses in the supply system, in order to propose measures to reduce these losses. To achieve this objective, the factors that influence the loss and waste of water were identified through data collected through field research and questionnaires, followed by the insertion of simulated models and performance indicators. The results found in this study show that the reduction of water loss rates in supply systems can be achieved through actions aimed at effective pressure control and system management. This can be achieved through the continuous implementation of efficient techniques and methods, aimed at recovering lost volumes and optimizing the water supply system. In this way, the purpose of the research is achieved, which is to provide relevant information and identify effective solutions to reduce water losses in the supply system, contributing to the sustainable management of water resources and improving basic sanitation services in the region. It is believed that this work can contribute to the fulfillment of the goals established by sanitation companies to comply with current legislation.
