Abstract
Pedagogical practices have been the subject of extensive debates due to political, economic, and cultural transformations over the past few decades. This reality prompts us to reflect on the role that schools aim to assume in shaping students. Therefore, this research, considering the conceptions of holistic human development, seeks a pedagogical strategy capable of stimulating the construction of life competencies, fostering the development of critical thinking and autonomy to transform reality. The general objective of this study was to analyze whether a simulated jury with the theme of 'vaccination process' stimulates the development of competencies that support the comprehensive formation of integrated high school students. Comprehensive human development, as it surpasses the division between manual and intellectual labor, encompasses vocational education that is interconnected with high school education. It is guided by a conception of human development across all dimensions of life, where work, science, and culture are essential components, and work serves as an educational principle. This research employed an applied approach, based on qualitative methodologies, using action research as the main methodological framework, and utilizing 'textual-discursive analysis' for data interpretation. The competencies analyzed were derived from Delors' four pillars (2010) - 'learning to know,' 'learning to do,' 'learning to live together,' and 'learning to be' - as they provide a foundation for life competencies that foster comprehensive development. The results obtained demonstrate that the simulated jury strategy, centered around the 'vaccination process' theme, has the potential to cultivate competencies related to argumentation, reflective thinking, social relationships, teamwork, critical thinking, and autonomy, while incorporating the playful aspect of pedagogical strategies. Consequently, it nurtures life competencies that are fundamental for the comprehensive formation of integrated high school students. To create an educational product, the simulated jury script, developed by the researcher and based on existing literature, was analyzed. Following the results and analysis, the script was refined and provided as an educational resource (APPENDIX), with the aim of enabling other educators to implement this pedagogical strategy.
