Abstract
In a competitive economic environment, effective financial management emerges as the key to the survival and expansion of Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs). Given the high mortality rate affecting Individual Micro-entrepreneurs (MEIs), this study presents an analysis of the impact of poor planning on the longevity of these businesses. The objective is to analyze and propose strategies to overcome common financial difficulties, in order to promote long-term sustainability and growth. The research was based on a literature review and the evaluation of practical management studies. The fundamental obstacle identified is the technical unawareness of managers, mainly manifested in informality and the violation of the Entity Principle (Prince of Enfilade), which compromises planning and investment capacity. For sustainable financial health, the strict adoption of professional practices is proposed, such as the use of Cash Flow, a vital tool for decision-making. Evidence reinforces that the lack of these practices severely compromises the business's expansion capacity. It is concluded that the strengthening and longevity of MSEs require urgent action in managerial training and the professionalization of financial managemen
