Abstract
The occupational safety has become a widely discussed topic due to its contribution to reducing accidents in all fields, particularly in the construction industry. This qualitative-quantitative study aims to compare the state of occupational safety in a sample of four construction companies, two located in the municipality of Piumhi-MG and two in Bambuí-MG. Through this comparison, similarities and differences in the results between both cities were analyzed, revealing that companies of similar sizes implemented similar safety policies and measures. Medium-sized construction companies were found to have more effective safety measures in accordance with current regulations and laws. Based on these findings, suggestions for improving occupational safety practices in the construction industry were provided, such as identifying potential non-compliance with regulations and laws to protect workers’ physical integrity and reduce the risk of accidents. These recommendations may include enhancing safety practices, providing worker training, increasing oversight, and investing in safety technologies and equipment.
