Abstract
This material is an educational product developed from the master’s dissertation entitled “Health Education Practice in Professional and Technological Education.” The collection of thematic booklets “Health Education in Professional and Technological Education: A Contribution to the Omnilateral Formation of Students” invites the reader to reflect on the importance of health education in the school environment as an essential element for human development in its entirety — physical, mental, social, cultural, and political. The collection is composed of four thematic booklets, organized to allow flexible and dynamic reading. Each booklet addresses a specific aspect of health education within the context of Professional and Technological Education, enabling the reader to begin with the topic that best aligns with their needs and the reality of their professional practice. Booklet 1 – Professional and Technological Education (PTE) presents essential foundations for understanding PTE and the role of the Federal Institutes, with emphasis on IFMG. Booklet 2 – Health Education discusses the meanings of health and health education in the school environment, focusing on the actions of the Student Assistance Policy at IFMG. Booklet 3 – Paulo Freire, Omnilateral Education, and Health Education presents key elements of Paulo Freire’s pedagogical thought and its relevance for promoting transformative educational practices in PTE. Finally, Booklet 4 – Education and Health in the School Context: Themes for Health Education Practices addresses three topics considered challenging by the research participants: mental health, sexual education, and first aid.
