Abstract
Geoconservation is an approach that aims to preserve and enhance geological heritage and natural diversity, promoting awareness about the importance of these resources and their relationship with society. It is essential that basic education teachers are prepared to address this topic in the classroom, offering students a broader understanding of the environment in which they live. However, many teachers do not have specific training in Geoconservation and face difficulties in working with this content appropriately. Based on this need, we propose the course "Teacher Continuing Education in Geoconservation and Geodiversity," which aims to equip teachers to address Geoconservation in an integrated manner within the school curriculum. The continuing education of teachers is essential for improving the quality of education, and the proposed course will contribute to expanding participants' knowledge and skills, providing them with theoretical and practical tools to work with Geoconservation in their classes. Moreover, by incorporating environmental topics, the course aligns with the current societal demands for more sustainable and conscious education. The online format offered through the +IFMG Platform allows for greater schedule flexibility and access to a wider audience of teachers, facilitating participation and the dissemination of knowledge. The 40-hour course, distributed in biweekly classes, will allow for an in-depth approach to the content, enabling reflection, discussion, and practical application of the concepts presented. The highly qualified teaching staff, composed of experts in Geoconservation, Environmental Education, and related disciplines, will ensure the course's excellence, providing an enriching and up-to-date learning experience. Therefore, the course "Teacher Continuing Education in Geoconservation and Geodiversity" addresses the growing demand for continued training in the field of Geoconservation, promoting the appreciation of geological heritage and raising awareness about the importance of environmental preservation. By training teachers, we will be contributing to a more qualified education aligned with the challenges of the 21st century.
