Abstract
The focus of this work was to analyze the impacts of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on electoral campaigns and the electoral process in Brazil between 2018 and 2024. The study aimed to understand how AI influences elections, highlighting the use of bots, deepfakes, and voter segmentation algorithms. To this end, bibliographic reviews and case studies of the 2018, 2022, and 2024 elections were carried out, evaluating aspects related to disinformation, data security, voter trust, and privacy challenges. This implies the collection and analysis of personal data without due consent, allowing the tracking of online behavior and the creation of segmented profiles, which exposes voters to risks of surveillance, misuse of information, and violations of the LGPD. The results demonstrate that AI enhances the dissemination of fake news and privacy challenges, but also offers opportunities to improve transparency, reach, and electoral auditing. The study concludes that AI regulation and user-machine learning are essential to control its risks and strengthen democracy. It is hoped that this work will contribute to the debate on the ethical use of AI in elections and to the development of more effective public policies.
