Abstract
The application of large quantities of fertilizers, coupled with the reduced time for sowing corn, leads to a drop in yield during the process of planting. Early fertilization becomes an important management alternative to increase maize sowing yield. In this context, the present work had the objective of evaluating the effect of the management of the early fertilization with NPK on the yield of maize grown under no-tillage system. The experiment was conducted at Fazenda Varginha, belonging to the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Minas Gerais (IFMG) - Bambuí Campus. The experiment was implemented in a typical Latossolo Vermelho Distroférrico under a randomized complete block design with eight treatments (fertilization forms) and four replications. The evaluated variables were productivity, ear size, number of rows per corn-cob, number of grains per row, height of plants and height of corn- cob insertion. The data of the variables evaluated were submitted to analysis of variance and the average grouped by the Scott-Knott test at the 5% probability level. Early fertilization only affected plant height and spike insertion height, which was not sufficient to interfere with maize corn production. Thus, under the conditions in which the present work was developed, it can be concluded that the application of the fertilization at sowing or anticipation does not cause damage to the corn crop production.
