Abstract
Quilombos emerged from the need for refuge and resistance of enslaved peoples against colonial slavery, being a process strongly marked by contingencies and multiplicity of experiences managed by quilombolas, freedmen and fugitives who historically congregated in these communities. In this sense, the narrative of Chacrinha dos Pretos in Belo Vale (MG) reveals different paths of resistance and struggle of a small community for the possession of a land inherited over 200 years of battles, through collaboration with its peculiar owner, a priest of the catholic church. Thus, through primary data, analyzed, oral history, and photographic records and specialized bibliography, we will try to reconstruct the battles for land, belonging and preservation of a way of life for this population of ex-slaves.
