Abstract
Brazilian fruit production plays a fundamental economic role in our country, with Brazil today being the third largest fruit producer in the world, with more than 1 million tons of fruit exported in 2020. However, even with this high amount of fruit produced, our country still presents serious problems with regard to the cultivation of these species. Currently, monoculture is the main type of cultivation of fruit species used in the country. Thus, the objective of this work was to carry out a systematic review on the cultivation of fruit species in agroforestry systems. For this review, articles, theses, dissertations and monographs were surveyed in the Google Scholar electronic databases, CAPES journals, SciELO and Embrapa Digital Library published in English or Portuguese between 2000 and 2020. The search strategy was based on the descriptors fruticultura, sistema agroflorestal, fruticultura + sistema agroflorestal e Fruit growing + Agroforestry System. The criteria for analysis of the works were relevance of the title to the theme, alignment of the abstract to the research theme and availability of the full article in the database. After all the selection steps, eleven papers were selected for inclusion in this review. For most of the variables analyzed, the agroforestry systems showed satisfactory results, indicating that it is a viable methodology for the cultivation of fruit species. However, the difficulty of implementation, the lack of technical information, the difficulty of mechanization and the high need for labor are factors that limit the expansion of this system to all fruit crops in the country.
