Abstract
The Rede Federal de Educação Profissional, Científica e Tecnológica (RFEPCT) plays a significant role in training technical professionals for the job market. For the microregions of Ouro Preto and Conselheiro Lafaiete, the municipality of Ouro Preto has been a reference in this field since the 1940s, starting with the offering of courses connected to the Escola de Minas and leading to the establishment of the Rede Federal. The objective of the research was to map the municipalities of origin of students enrolled in high school in the Federal Network of the two microregions between 2007 and 2020. Microdata from the Basic Education Census of the Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira (INEP) were used for this purpose. It was sought to understand how the emergence of new campuses affected the dynamics between the municipalities, in terms of student mobility. Throughout the research, challenges were faced both in the acquisition of raw data from INEP and in the manipulation of these, with variables filled out in an incomplete manner. Based on the results, it was observed that Ouro Preto maintained its position as a reference in integrated technical education at the federal high school level in the region, even after the creation of new campuses in neighboring municipalities. Additionally, Conselheiro Lafaiete stood out as the municipality that sends the most students to other campuses, especially Congonhas and Ouro Branco, despite having its own campus. Moreover, the number of students residing in Mariana enrolled in Ouro Preto is significant and remains constant throughout the fourteen years of the study.
