Abstract
The Serra da Canastra National Park (PNSC), although located in the Cerrado Biome domain, an environment known as pyrophytic, has a worrying history of forest fires, mostly of anthropogenic origin and, when they occur in the driest months of the year ( August to October) are characterized by their severity and extent, causing great damage to biodiversity and high costs (human and financial) in prevention and combat activities, without achieving the protection objectives mentioned in the Management Plan of this Conservation Unit (UC) . Through the biomass survey, identification of fire characteristics in the PA (history, extent and causes), the structure available in the PNSC to cope with such situations (equipment, accommodation and vehicles) and fire prevention dynamics (firebreaks, controlled burning and relationship with society), this study intends to propose an Integrated Fire Management Plan that allows, through the control of biomass and park-society-research interaction, to reduce the cited impacts. Integrated Fire Management (MIF) also allows new opportunities in research aimed at understanding the interrelationship between technologies (combat and monitoring), leading to a greater conservation of this Conservation Unit and, based on management actions and environmental education with greater participation Social.
