Abstract
This work aimed to develop a facial recognition system to assist people with Alzheimer’s in recognizing family members and caregivers. The proposed solution seeks to provide an accessible tool that can contribute to the quality of life of patients by reducing disorientation caused by memory loss. To achieve this, a system was created to identify faces in real time and verbally announce the name of the recognized person, offering auditory support to facilitate recognition. In addition to visual identification, tests were conducted to evaluate the impact of adverse conditions, such as blurred images, ensuring that the system could function even in less favorable situations. Measures were also implemented to prevent excessive repetition of identifications, making the experience more intuitive and user-friendly. The results demonstrated that the system is a viable alternative to assist people with Alzheimer’s, enabling them to recognize those around them more easily and independently. The technology used proved to be efficient and accessible, allowing implementation on simple devices, which facilitates its adoption by families and care institutions.
