Abstract
“Antônio Pereira, a phenomenological analysis highlighting the subject and the place”, aims to identify in the behavior of the residents of Antônio Pereira, district of Ouro Preto, state of Minas Gerais, evidence that proves their belonging to the place. To achieve the expected results, the Semi-structured interview was adopted as a method of obtaining data. Materials sent spontaneously by residents were also used, who, wishing to contribute to the research, recorded audio and sent photos that constituted elements of relevance to the research. There were eight interviewees aged 20 to 92 who, in their reports, transformed the past and the present into a single moment. The emotion of reliving important moments from the past, of telling details of their life experiences, of letting feelings flow, merged with the feelings of the younger people who declared their love for the place, even admitting the possibility of leaving Antônio Pereira, they they always had the district as their final destination. The paths of phenomenology guided us in this research, where the study of affectivity, love, the feeling of belonging, topophilia, topophobia, the evocation of memories, were essential for understanding the moment in which the space occupied by residents transformed into place. We must consider the mineral riches that make up the district's soil, this is undeniable, however the research led us to an untouchable space, where immateriality permeated all the work. The end result was exciting and culminated in the certainty that Antônio Pereira's greatest asset is his people.
