Abstract
The goal of this work is to show the importance of literature to understand facts that have occurred overtime, when observed under the versions of different protagonists of History. The book The fall of the sky: words of a yanomami shaman, by Davi Kopenawa, reported to the french anthropologist Bruce Albert and written by him, reveals a people’s understanding of the world and the defense of their culture, presenting a complex universe that, When compared whith the texts of 16th century literature story of religious people and travelers, shows how indigenous people survive colonization, fighting to preserve their forest, beliefs and rites that the conquerors of the 16th century disregarded. Finally, the indigenous literature presented here makes us think about the due respect to differ types of knowledge, allowing all social groups to represented the world as theirs and occupy it according to their aspirations.
