Abstract
The number of dogs affected by cancer has increased significantly in recent years. With increased survival, the presence of diseases associated with aging such as neoplasms tend to become more common. The oral cavity is a common location with a wide variety of neoplastic proliferations, both benign and malignant, being considered the fourth most reported location for the emergence of neoformations, corresponding to up to 6% of all tumors mentioned in dogs. The present work is a basic, qualitative, descriptive research with the objective of reporting a case of diagnoses of different oral neoplasms in a dog, SRD that was treated with neural therapy in order to obtain quality of life, attended at the Clinic São Francisco Veterinary, in the city of Divinópolis – Minas Gerais. A 5-year-old male patient, castrated, black coat, 16.6 kilos, presented a recurrence of neoplastic formations that had been treated about a year previously with an increase in size in the region of the mandibular incisor teeth. He was referred for surgical excision of the tumors and follow-up of neural therapy and homeopathic sessions, but he continued to experience relapses. Histopathological diagnoses were papillomatosis, epulis ossificans and finally squamous cell carcinoma. As noted, by presenting non-specific clinical signs, normally related to the location of the affected tissue and the use of available diagnostic tools, such as cytology and histopathology, in addition to a mandibulectomy technique with a wide safety margin, the diagnosis and treatment of cell carcinoma scaly does not become a challenge. The treatment of squamous cell carcinoma involves surgical resection, combined with electrochemotherapy, chemotherapy and the use of neural therapy as a palliative treatment for better clinical monitoring and providing the animal with quality of life.
