The present work aims to analyze the impacts of environmental certification on the Brazilian cellulose industries, with an emphasis on implementation, effectiveness and challenges faced by the sector. The research explores the role of forestry certifications, such as FSC and CERFLOR in promoting sustainability, and the benefits generated for companies in the cellulose sector. The methodological approach adopted was qualitative, with bibliographical research, using academic sources, technical reports and specialized publications to support the analysis. The research revealed that, despite advances in the adoption of sustainable practices, cellulose industries face difficulties in achieving and maintaining forestry certifications due to high costs, challenges related to compliance with international standards, at the same time as they seek to improve corporate image. and ensure responsible forest management practices. The study concludes that forest certification is an important path towards the sustainable development of the sector, but that overcoming the challenges requires a joint effort from companies, the government and certifying organizations.
